A COUNCIL has tied the knot with English Heritage to promote a site as a wedding venue.
Officials have given permission for wedding receptions to be held in the historic grounds of Gisborough Priory.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's events officer Jane Hierons said: "This is a beautiful location, which we are sure will be a very attractive backdrop to any wedding.
"Our expertise will involve the hiring of a marquee and ensuring the grounds look superb on the bride's big day. We're delighted that English Heritage has agreed to this partnership."
The council's cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, Sheelagh Clarke, said: "I can't think of anywhere better. I think it will be stunning, a fabulous venue. If I was getting married again, I'd go to the priory."
The council has its first booking for the priory, on Saturday, June 9, after a wedding next door - at St Nicholas Church.
