THE team behind a council's multi-million pound school rebuilding programme has won a national award.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's grouped school public finance initiative team, in partnership with developers Carillion, won the award for best operational education project at the Public Private Finance Awards, at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
The team, formed in 2003, has been behind the council's £155m deal for three new secondary schools and two new primaries.
The three secondary schools now in new buildings are Bydales School, in Marske, Sacred Heart RC School, in Redcar, and Gillbrook College, in Eston.
There have also been two new primaries, South Bank Community Primary and St Benedict's RC Primary, in Redcar. Judges said the partnership that was "working exceptionally well".
