TWO teachers from Stockton have been shortlisted in the regional finals of the National Teaching Awards.
Tom Wood, from Thornaby Community School, and Becky Jenkins, from Abbey Hill School and Technology College, have been shortlisted for outstanding new teacher of the year.
The regional finals ceremony will be at the Sage, in Gateshead, on Wednesday, June 20.
Clare Devine, headteacher at Abbey Hill School and Technology College, said: "Becky has shown tremendous enthusiasm and commitment to teaching. She brings a creative flair and energy to all of her work at Abbey Hill. I'm delighted that she has been successful in reaching the regional finals."
Linda Russell-Bond, headteacher at Thornaby Community School, said: "Tom's contribution, professionalism, presence and impact in his first year of teaching cannot and must not go unnoticed. He really has made a difference to the school and importantly, the outcomes for our students."
