BARNARD Castle Town Council is on the lookout for someone to fill the final the 12 seats on the council.
One seat in the East ward of the town remains vacant - and a final decision will be reached at a meeting on June 4.
Last week, long-serving councillor Alan Wilkinson retired and was replaced by David Blackie.
The council needs to fill the seat left by former chief executive of Teesdale District Council Eric Fell, who died in December last year.
Expressions of interest should be made in writing to the clerk, Geoff Bosworth, at 44B Galgate, Barnard Castle, DL12 8BH, by Friday, June 1, with reasons for applying and relevant background information.
Applicants do not need to be residents in the East ward.
The clerk is available to answer questions from potential candidates and provide information about the town council and its responsibilities and plans for the future.
Phone Mr Bosworth on 01833-690970 or, by arrangement, he can be visited in the council's office.
