THERE were plenty of creepie crawlies around when youngsters dressed up as bugs and insects.
The pre-school playgroup and the reception class at Witton Gilbert Primary School staged a joint ugly bug's ball in which the children put on the costumes of butterflies, caterpillars, spiders and ladybirds.
There was also a visit from a local expert who showed the youngsters his collection of bugs.
The children also made insect-themed cakes for the event, which follows lessons they have had about insects.
Lynn Markwell, of the playgroup, said: "We have been having a minibeast theme. The event was also held to celebrate the fact that we got an excellent Ofsted report."
