POLICE have concluded an investigation into a reported sighting of one of the world's most-wanted terror suspects - and say they are 'satisfied' it was a false alarm.
An investigation was launched after a woman said to resemble Samantha Lewthwaite, also known as the White Widow, was spotted at Bannatyne's Hotel in Darlington on Boxing Day.
A statement released this afternoon by Durham Police said: "Following the reported sighting on December 26, at Darlington of Samantha Lewthwaite, inquiries have been conducted and police are satisfied that the person reported is not Samantha Lewthwaite."
