POLICE yesterday searched a field for clues to the whereabouts of the body of missing shop worker Jenny Nicholl.

Detectives said nothing of significance had been found.

The search took place in a small field at Woodhouse Farm, near Richmond, North Yorkshire.

It follows an examination on Friday of a septic tank in the field.

Ron Johnson, spokesman for North Yorkshire Police, said: "Last Friday, a search was carried out in a septic tank at a farm in Longwood Bank, which is between Richmond and Catterick Garrison, but nothing of significance was found.

"The search team returned to the area and they carried out a routine search of a field in which the septic tank is located."

Police were alerted to the septic tank when the occupiers of the farmhouse said their sewage system was not working.

The elderly couple said it had been blocked for about two years.

The tank, which has been examined, takes overflow from the couple's farm system.

Jenny left her home in Richmond, on June 30, 2005, saying she would not be back that night. Her parents never saw her again.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police on 0845-60-60-247.
