A FOOTBALL club is hoping its fans will never walk alone by signing up for a marathon trek this summer.
For the second successive year, Bishop Auckland Football Club is organising a walk taking in a number of local football grounds to raise money for the club's proposed new stadium.
The event will take place on Sunday, July 8. The walk, which will start at Durham City's New Ferens Park at 8.30am and finish at Bishop Auckland Market Place at 8pm, is a 24-mile route and is in two halves.
Participants can take part in either part of or all of the walk, and can choose to raise money for any local or national charity as well as, or instead of, the club's stadium appeal.
The walk will include Brandon United's Welfare Ground, Esh Winning FC's Waterhouses, Stanley Crook's Hilltop Ground, Crook Town's Millfield and Willington FC's Hall Lane.
Transport is being arranged to take walkers planning on doing the full walk from Bishop Auckland to Durham for 8am, while there are support jobs for people who want to help but do not wish to walk.
