IF Lintz find themselves challenging for the Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League title, Saturday's remarkable finish to their game at Morpeth will have played a major part.
Responding to their opponent's total of 221-8, which included a century from Blake Reynolds, Lintz slipped from 140-2 to 203-9 before Nick Young and Kevin Johnson came to the wicket as last hope tailenders. But Young with an unbeaten 25 became the unlikely hero.
Needing five to win from the last over he was dropped twice and got the win with the help of overthrows.
Swalwell extended their lead at the top to 11 points when they enjoyed a big win over Sacriston.
The Pattison duo played a major part, with Stuart hitting a top score of 61 and taking three wickets for just seven runs and Ian contributing 44. Sacriston were bowled out for just 113, chasing 233-8.
Tynedale went second with an imposing victory against Leadgate. Scott Kay (121) gave Tynedale the perfect start and with Simon Prudhoe adding 68, they totalled 292-7.
Leadgate's batting folded at 138 despite 55 from Dave Anderson. Kay showed his all-round ability with three wickets.
Newcastle City surprised Shotley when Amman Dhindsa (6-24) and Omer Ahmed (3-30) bowled them out for 108 to win by a margin of just 16 runs. Phil Carlin (6-5) and David Jackson (4-52) must have thought they'd done enough before a batting slump.
Annfield Plain beat bottom club Percy Main by eight wickets.
In the A2 Division Greenside were dismissed for 14 runs, the lowest score in the top divisions since the league was reformed.
