POLICE are asking residents in the Spennymoor area who may have a had a lawn strimmer stolen recently to get in touch.
Earlier this month, officers came across two men in the town's Rock Road carrying two yellow and black petrol-driven strimmers.
They were unable to give a satisfactory account of where the garden tools had come from.
It is thought the machines, worth £100 each, may have been stolen from the area at the end of last month or the beginning of this one.
The pair were arrested on suspicion of theft and, after being interviewed, were released on bail.
Anyone who thinks the strimmers might be belong to them is asked to contact PC Steve Constantine, of Spennymoor police, on 0845-60-60-365.
