The Northern Echo is working in partnership with the "Passionate people. Passionate places", North-East England campaign to promote this region as a fantastic place to visit.
Following on from the publication of the 1,001 Great Things About North-East England supplement that came with the paper in February, "Share Your Passion" is an initiative to get local people to share the many fantastic things about this region by inviting friends and family to visit.
There will be more details about this coming soon.
They say, however, that a picture can paint a thousand words . . . and that's where you can come in.
Are you something of a photographer? Have you recently taken or do you fancy that you could take THE picture that shows the North-East in a new and/or inspirational light?
With golden beaches and undiscovered countryside, dazzling cities and two amazing World Heritage Sites, great gardens and galleries as well as iconic bridges and buildings and you won't be short of inspiration.
We are looking to unearth the best new images of our fantastic region and showcase these in a special feature in The Northern Echo on Saturday, July 21.
Our Chief Photographer, Richard Doughty, will be running his experienced eye over the entries to select a shortlist of ten, which will then be put to a vote of all of our readership.
The winning photographer and partner will win a luxury overnight stay at Langley Castle Hotel, near Hexham, in Northumberland, including dinner in the restaurant.
A gallery of the pictures that have been entered in the competition will appear at www.thenorthernecho/lesiure/ passionate.
All the details about the competition will also be on the site.
So, what are you waiting for? Get out and about in North East England, capture that very special image and you could see your work displayed to our 140,000 readers.
