YOUNG people are being encouraged to give dancing a whirl, at a one-day event staged by North-East students.
Anyone keen to try is welcome to attend the workshops, in the professional setting of Dance City studios in Temple Street, Newcastle.
Tomorrow's workshops are open to anyone aged 11 to 15. Sessions range from disco, to contemporary and break dancing.
The event has been organised by Cassie Burnett, from New Brancepeth, and fellow second year dance choreography students at Northumbria University, Newcastle. Organising such an event is part of their studies.
They hope it will also encourage young people to try dance as a way of keeping fit.
The workshops will be given by Dance City teachers, assisted by Ms Burnett and other choreography under-graduates, Nicole Stephenson, Joanna Risolino, and Liz Mills.
Twenty-year-old Ms Burnett said: "As part of our studies, we were given the task of organising a performance or workshop to benefit the community.
"We decided that we'd like to work with young people, and felt that a dance taster day would be an excellent way of showing how good dance is, as a form of exercise and fun."
The workshops, costing £5 will run from 11am until 3pm and will culminate in a performance.
Places can be booked on a first come, first served basis by ringing Dance City, on 0191-261-0505.
