AN after-school club has been praised following a visit by Government inspectors.
The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) visited Rossmere After-School Club, in Hartlepool, last month, as part of a national programme of inspection.
Its report, which has been published on the Ofsted website, said the quality and standards of care provided were good.
It added: "Children enjoy good opportunities to lead a healthy lifestyle.
"They have the opportunity to walk to school on the walking bus and enjoy physical activities, such as skittles, trim trail course, table tennis and football.
"The food provided offers a balanced and nutritious menu. Meals are a social event, where children love to sit with their friends to chat about their day at school.
"Children are cared for in a warm, friendly and safe environment, and in premises that are well-maintained. They enjoy a wide range of stimulating activities and use resources and equipment that are safe and suitable for their age."
Rossmere Primary School headteacher Lisa Biggin said: "I am pleased that this report recognises our commitment to supporting parents and carers."
