THE Crown pub in Crook has won a major brewery award.
The pub, in Commercial Street, Crook, was founded in the 17th Century and hosts weekly events, including karaoke and quiz nights.
It came joint first in the Northern Award for Excellence, organised by Trust Inns.
The pub won the award because of its popular events, fundraising efforts, value for money and friendliness.
Since July 2006, The Crown has managed to raise almost £3,500 for The Rainbow Trust and Breast Cancer Research.
Landlady Sue Clough said: "We are really pleased to have won this award.
"It is great to get recognised like this."
