AN AIRPORT chief executive, suspended during the course of an internal investigation, has resigned his post, it was confirmed today.
John Parkin, chief executive of Newcastle International Airport Ltd, has been suspended since March following what the company describe as an "ongoing investigation into certain personal contractual issues".
This afternoon, the company confirmed that Mr Parkin had resigned from the company with effect from May 11.
A company spokesman added: "Since March 23, significant progress has been made in connection with the investigation into the personal contractual issues and Mr Parkin's resignation does not affect or impact on the ongoing inquiry.
"We are advised that, because of the legal nature of the ongoing investigation, we are unable to make any further comment on the matter at this time."
