A PERSONAL view of poverty in India has been captured through the lens of a Thirsk photographer.
Karen Lennox visited the Rishi Valley Education Centre, at Andhra Pradesh, southern India.
She photographed life in the villages based round the centre where poverty and suffering are common.
Now back in North Yorkshire, her work has gone on display in an exhibition called the Valley of the Wise.
She said: "It was a fascinating experience and very inspiring. I was so impressed by what they were doing at the centre that I had to make a record of their work.
"Photography serves a vital purpose in bringing to public attention the dire circumstances of people living in poverty, or suffering from the effects of wars, epidemics or natural disasters."
Her work is on show at the Georgian Theatre Royal, in Richmond, and is to go on show around the town.
The display has been supported by a grant of £3,900 given by the Arts Council.
The Valley of the Wise is on display until June 7 with free entry from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
