A FIREWORKS display will mark the official opening of a park next week.
A family fun day has been organised for Saturday, May 26 at the opening of Oakey Park, Stanley.
The park, between Tanfield College of Science and Technology and Barn Hill, has recently been redeveloped to include a play area and giant climbing rocks.
Family activities will take place between 1pm and 4pm, including inflatables, rides for smaller children and face painting. The fire service and the Ellie Youth Bus will be on site.
Music will be provided by Tanfield College of Science and Engineering's Rock School project, along with a drumming workshop by Rob Kitchen.
The build-up to the fireworks starts at 8.45pm, with the display starting at 9.45pm. Car parking is limited.
Derwentside Leisure services has organised the event. Arts workshops will be running throughout the day
