VILLAGERS are being asked to help tidy up their community.
Residents of Shotley Bridge are being invited to take part in a community litter pick, at the play park in Snows Green Road, from 10am to 12.30pm, on Saturday.
The event has been organised by Shotley Bridge Village Trust and Groundwork West Durham, part of a programme of events to improve the local environment.
Volunteers will help tidy the village's open spaces, woodland and streams where litter has started to pile up.
Older children from the village's junior school will be carrying out a litter pick in the school grounds the following week and will also be designing Keep The Village Tidy posters for a competition.
Anyone interested in helping is asked to turn up at 10am with stout shoes or Wellingtons, but equipment and gloves will be provided.
For further information, contact Claire Longstaff on 01207-524803.
The activity is part of a five-month campaign called CSV Action Earth, supported by Morrisons Supermarkets.
