THE gates of gardens across County Durham are to be opened to raise money for a hospice.

The gardens of at least nine properties in towns and villages, including Durham City, Chester-le-Street and Hamsterley, near Barnard Castle, will welcome the public to visit, to raise funds for St Cuthbert's Hospice, in Durham.

The garden of a terraced townhouse, the grounds of Crook Hall and Gardens and a farm offering year-round colour are among the attractions.
