THE opening of a park following a major redevelopment is to be staged later this month.
A family fun day will be held on Saturday, May 26, at Oakey Park, between Barn Hill and Tanfield College of Science and Technology, in Stanley.
The new-look site includes a new play area and climbing rocks.
The launch been organised by Derwentside Leisure Services and will include a firework display. It will be one of the largest in the area and includes fireworks dancing to music.
Family activities will run from 1pm to 4pm, including inflatables, rides for smaller children and face painting.
The fire brigade and the Ellie Bus will be attending, and music will be provided by Tanfield College of Science and Engineering's Rock School project along with a Boom Dang drumming workshop from Rob Kitchen.
Arts workshops will be running throughout the day as well as sporting activities.
