The Inshore Fisheries Langbaurgh League

Champions Broughton struggled to beat Stafford Place despite having them back in the pavilion for just 98. Veteran Andrew Smith took five for 11 after Roger Briddock had struck earlier with three for 34.

Mally Graves (five for 53) hit back and it was left to the last pair to scramble the remaining few runs needed.

Kirby Sigston racked up a massive 322 for three against Thimbleby. Dave Thompson (163) and Ian Raynor (104) led the charge against Thimbleby's reply of 239. Mark Stenson (76 no) and Dave Barningham (62) did well.

East Harlsey beat Skelton Castle thanks to sensational bowling by 17 year old Chris Ward who grabbed six for 11, which included the hat-trick.

Maltby beat Crathorne in the other division one game.

In Division Two Hutton Rudby's first string beat the reserves by 28 runs. Elsewhere there were wins for Maltby B, Norton, Kildale and Ingleby Greenhow.

Coors Cleveland League

Nunthorpe Merlin pulled off an emphatic win against Staithes despite having to chase down a winning total of 172.

Pearson top scored with 44, and Burdon with three for 39 and Tweedy with three for 58 bowled well enough to keep the visitors in check.

Burdon hit a brilliant unbeaten 86 in the six wickets win.

New Marske beat Dormanstown. Opener Wood scored 44 in the 166 for nine score and then Taggart (six for 21) and Alderson (four for 31 ) proved lethal with the ball as they shot Town out for just 53 runs.

Loftus A team (190-4) beat the B team by 113 runs.

Dormans are off and running thanks to an unbeaten century from opener Tony Insall (103) before they declared Paragonians in the 40th over in a comprehensive 98 run win.

In the second division Boosbeck had a close encounter with Brotton and scraped home by 13 runs.

Danes took five for 26 after the visitors had threatened to overhaul the home teams 125.

Cowpen Bewley won by six wickets at Smiths Dock B with Foxton outstanding with six for 16.

In the final game there was a share of the spoils for Hinderwell and Smiths Dock A. Brown was impressive with a a spell of six for 17.

North East Midweek League

AN unbeaten 37 from veteran Steve Hutchinson helped Nine Pins to a six wickets win against Civil Service who were restricted to 90-8.

Big-hitting Rowlands CA 164-2, with James Davidson (40) and Ross McLaren (62 no) beat Gateshead Fell Cavaliers, who scored 128-8 with Mark Smith top scoring on 63.

Promoted Genetics saw both Andy Jeffery and Andy Goulding score 28 each as they enjoyed a three wickets win over Kirkwood who had earlier reached 100-5.

Khalid Azam was unbeaten on 53 to guide West End 130-6 to a four wickets win over Old Record Players (128-2), for whom Colin Quigley was 57 not out and Jason Tenniswood also hit a half century.

In Division Two, Tynemouth Cumberland 89-0 romped to a ten wickets win over Beamish & East Stanley 88-5.

Fenham,123-3, beat Adders by seven wickets, while Andy Lineham 39, paved the way for Tyne Wear Fire Service, 65-4, to see off Monkseaton Saints 64-4.

Promoted Division Three new boys Sage were inspired by Dave Moodies unbeaten 44 as they beat Coquet 103-8 by seven wickets.

Kingstonians were four wicket winners against Aletasters, while YAARS piled up 128-9 against Silver Paddlers.

Division Four newcomers Ryton had a quick seven wickets win at Clara Vale. Neil Robinson 40 and Graham Rowell unbeaten just three short of his half century sealed the win after Clara Vale had managed to restrict Merz & McLellan 106-5.

Whitley Bay were also seven wickets winners with Graham Ord scoring 56 against Procter & Gamble.

And to keep up the seven wickets successes, Humshaugh did that against Mitford Boars 100-4, despite an unbeaten 51 from Matt Ellinor.

Oxbridge Darlington And District Cricket League

Barton had a comprehensive victory over Ingleton last Saturday with opener Clarke (74) and Kearney (60) prominant as the host team posted a respectable 174 despite Mellors six wickets for 43 runs.

Heighington maintained their unbeaten start to go equal top with a thrilling victory over now third in the table Lands. A brilliant century from Walker (118 ) set up the home teams final score of 205.

Aldbrough St John moved into fourth place with a big win over Spennithorne. Wood (84) and Priestley (50) set up the home teams formidable 221

Barningham had a six wicket triumph over champions Middleton St George. Pattisons four for 56 helped constrain St George to 216.

An outstanding bowling performance of seven for 40 was not enough to prevent Brompton on Swales' Hanratty finish on the losing side as his team succumbed to Trimdon Colliery by three wickets.

Cockerton won their second game when beating Rockcliffe Park by eight wickets.

In Division B the two Middletons head the table with maximum points and star performer was Tyas Morgan who hit a great century.

Witton le Wear, Rockcliffe Park, Haughton and Eryholme were the other winners.
