COUNCIL leaders from North Yorkshire have been in London pressing their case with the Government over controversial devolution plans which could shape the future of the region.
The area is split over two separate plans which would see powers over transport, housing, training and skills moving to the regions.
In one bid backed by North Yorkshire County Council the move would be to join with other Yorkshire councils not including south Yorkshire to create a single super council.
But West Yorkshire councils are pushing for a separate, larger authority with the option of including only parts of North Yorkshire.
Council leaders, including the leader of North Yorkshire County Council, Cllr Carl Les have been meeting Local Government Minister Greg Clark and Treasury Minister Lord O’Neill.
No decision is expected immediately but a statement is expected tomorrow (Tuesday October 27)
