The girl's won Group 3B, which was held at Batley Tennis Centre, Leeds. Victory means the girls are now in the Top 8 Counties in the Country and will be battling in Group 2B in next years competition.
Seven girls from around Durham and Cleveland were selected to represent the County over the weekend and included Caitlin Hindmarsh (Sunderland), Charlotte Pepper (Stockton), Charlotte Derbyshire (Stockton), Farrar Azizz (Stockton), Laura Greaves (High Shincliffe) and Michaela Young (Durham). The team results were as follows, Saturday May 5. Beat Leicester 4-2 Sunday May 6. Beat Lincolnshire 4-2 Monday May 7. Beat Derbyshire 4-2 The Boy's team were victorious in Group 5B, which was played at Tennis World, Middlesbrough. They will now compete in Group 4B for next years event. The winning team included Jonathan Binding (Sunderland), David Galt (Middlesbrough), Stephen Alexander (North Yorkshire), Samuel Archer (Newcastle. Originally of Sunderland) and Henry Chadwick (Middlesbrough). The boys results are highlighted below, Saturday May 5. Beat Northumberland 4-2 Sunday May 6. Beat West of Scotland 4-3 Monday May 7. Beat East of Scotland 5-1 Graeme Clarkson who is the Durham & Cleveland Tennis Manager and was the Boy's Team Captain highlighted both teams success, "For both our teams to win their respective groups is brilliant and we are all so thrilled for all the players who represented the County. One of the many positive things is that we fielded a number of young players, which means that most of the team will be eligible to compete in the 14 & Under County Cup next year! This will put us in an even stronger position for promotion than we were this year!
