A BEHIND-THE-SCENES worker has taken centre-stage at her workplace.
Only weeks after she joined the team at the Georgian Theatre Royal, in Richmond, technician Claire Weaver was on stage for her wedding to fiance Mik Skinner.
The theatre is a popular wedding venue, but it was the first time a member of staff has been married there.
The theatre is the oldest surviving working theatre in the country, and the Woodland Scene, the oldest surviving backcloth in the country, was used as the backdrop for the ceremony.
Mrs Skinner, 27, from Darlington, said: "The Georgian Theatre Royal is unique and is a really lovely place to work.
"I was worried that the wedding would lose its magical appeal to me because I now work there, but when I stepped on stage and saw the candles sparkling, the theatre became the fairytale wedding that every little girl dreams of."
"Mik and I would like to thank the staff at the Georgian, for making our day so special."
Chief executive and theatre manager Vaughn Curtis said: "We all offer congratulations to Claire and Mik and wish them all the best."
