A YOUNG man who was twice arrested for being drunk and disorderly has been given a treatment order.

Jamie Nicholson, 21, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Darlington town centre on March 16, when he appeared in front of the town's magistrates yesterday.

He also admitted breach of a discharge for a similar offence.

David Maddison, prosecuting, said Nicholson was dancing around and gesticulating at police.

They talked to him, but let him go. He was later seen outside the Route 66 club, where he appeared to be urinating in the street. Police went and found him slumped in an alley. They thought he was unconscious, but he grabbed at one of their legs.

When they put him in a police van, he kicked out at the vehicle.

Nicholson, of Curlew Crescent, Scotton, near Catterick Garrison, who represented himself, told magistrates he had found a new job as a barman.

He said he was attending meetings to try to stop drinking.

He was given a six-month alcohol treatment order and must finish 100 hours of unpaid work from a previous order.
