AN airport has announced the launch of a long-haul service from the North-East to Canada.
Yesterday, airline Flyglobespan launched a weekly service from Newcastle Airport to Hamilton International Airport.
Chairman Tom Dalrymple said last night: "The key factors of load factor and fuel price are even more important on these longer routes. Therefore, the Flyglobespan model that has worked so well on short-haul routes fits well into the long-haul market, delivering low seat prices."
Newcastle Airport spokeswoman Wendy Dawley said: "We are delighted to have yet another airline flying transatlantic this summer.
"Toronto has always been a very popular destination and this additional service is certain to attract even more passengers from the region. Hamilton, the destination airport, gives great access to Toronto and Niagara Falls."
Prices start from £99 including taxes. All details are available on www.flyglobespan.com
