TWO men accused of the murder of a businessman have been remanded in custody.
Michael McDougal, 47, of Hylton Avenue and Michael Stephen Mullen, 24, of Hawthorne Avenue, both South Shields, appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates Court this morning charged with the murder of Tipu Sultan.
The father-of-two was shot dead outside his takeaway business in Lake Avenue, South Shields on April 7.
During this morning’s brief court hearing, the pair spoke only to confirm their names, addresses and dates of birth.
Both were remanded in custody until they appear at Newcastle Crown Court at a time yet to be decided over the next 48 hours.
