MORE than 600 people went searching for an Easter eggstravaganza at Bowlees Visitor Centre yesterday (Monday, April 6).

The centre, in Upper Teesdale, ran the family fun day to celebrate Easter along with the first signs of spring in the countryside.

Activities included a woodland Easter egg trail, spring crafts and Easter face painting in what was the centre’s first big event of the year.

Kaye Jemmeson, Marketing & Communications Lead at the North Pennines AONB Partnership, which runs the centre, said: “We had an amazing day, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather – it was glorious.

“It was lovely to see so many happy faces, just glad to get back outdoors again after what has felt like an ever-lasting winter.”

Kaye, who switched roles to become a face-painter for the day, said: “The car park was full to capacity before noon and the place was bustling.

“It was great to see so many people enjoying not only what we have to offer here at the centre, but at attractions throughout Teesdale.

“It was a fantastic start to the main tourist season.”
