A CATHEDRAL is celebrating the success of its Lego fundraising campaign with a take-home model.
Durham Cathedral first invited people to buy £1 plastic bricks in its 350,000-brick Lego model last year, to raise money for its £10m Open Treasure development programme.
Since then, more than 100,000 bricks have been sold.
From today (Thursday, December 11), people can buy a miniature version of the Lego cathedral to take home, plus Lego postcards, mugs and T-shirts.
Ruth Robson, the cathedral’s head of marketing and events, said: “The Lego cathedral project has attracted interest from far and wide and right from the start we’ve had people coming into the shop to see if we sold a mini version they could take home with them.
“We decided to look into the possibility of getting a mini model and managed to secure a limited edition range of 500, designed by Bright Bricks, certified from Lego. We anticipate they will be extremely popular gifts in the run-up to Christmas.”
The items are available from the cathedral shop.
