A MAN charged with robbery and burglary who escaped from security staff at a magistrates court has been arrested after a police chase.
Russell Frankland was arrested by North Yorkshire Police on Monday (December 8) in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, more than 100 miles from Scarborough where he gave his guards the slip on Thursday (December 4).
He had appeared before magistrates and charged with robbery and burglary, which were committed in the North Yorkshire seaside resort last month.
Frankland escaped from guards after being remanded into custody to appear at York Crown Court on Friday, December 19.
A spokesman for the force said officers from its Operation Hawk team captured the 40-year-old after chasing him on foot through the streets and are holding him in custody.
