A MAN has been taken to hospital with injuries after he was hit by a bus.
The man, in his 50s, was struck as he walked along Chester Road prior to the junction with Kayll Road in Sunderland.
The incident happened just after 2.30pm on Monday.
Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A section of the road was closed for a short time.
Officers are carrying out enquiries and asking any witnesses to contact them on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 659 081214 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
