EVERY one of a senior school’s 480 pupils took part in a prestigious music concert at the region’s premier arts venue.
Durham School staged A Festival of Music at the Sage Gateshead on Monday, December 1, with performances by its big band, concert choir and the Bow Durham Singers.
Former pupil Miriam Davis was invited back to play the violin, accompanied by Ellena Hale on piano.
After the interval, the school house music competition was staged.
The concert brought to an end the private school’s 600th anniversary celebrations.
Nicola McCann, the school’s director of marketing, said: “Congratulations to all of our pupils and in particular the heads of houses and to the winners MacLeod House and School House, who were awarded the House Music trophy and special individual trophy respectively.
“We were so proud to also welcome many Old Dunelmians to join us in the celebration; singing, performing and supporting their houses and the occasion.”
