THE first snow of the winter has fallen on the North-East and North Yorkshire as temperatures repeatedly dropped below zero overnight.
Snow fell on higher ground, particuarly in the Pennines, on Sunday afternoon and again overnight with temperatures dipping a couple of degrees below zero in places.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for much of the UK for Monday and Tuesday, urging people to "be aware" of snow and ice throughout the North-East amd Yorkshire, as well as Scotland, Northern Ireland, North West England, the Midlands, and Wales.
Experrts are also expecting high winds later in the week. The Met Office is predicting gusts of up to 80mph, and warns of “significant disruption”. There could also be problems with travel and power supplies.
