A KNIFEMAN is on the run after threatening a householder in Newcastle.
At just after 7.10pm, on Friday, December 5, police received a report that a man had entered the rear of an address on Farne Terrace, in Walker, armed with a knife.
He threatened the occupant and demanded cash. The householder fled to the front of the property to seek help. The offender followed making off in the direction of Scrogg Road empty-handed.
He is described as wearing a black balaclava and wearing all black clothing. He was carrying a knife around 8ins long.
The occupant of the address was shaken but unharmed.
Detective Inspector Dave Swinburne, from Northumbria Police's Major Crime Team, said: "Our enquiries are continuing today to trace the man responsible for this incident.
"Thankfully no-one was injured but it has clearly been a traumatic experience for those involved.
"I would urge anyone who may have seen a person acting suspiciously at the back of this street or anyone who saw the man leave the front of the premises to get in touch.
"Anyone who saw a man described in the area at the time of the burglary should also contact us.
"We realise this incident will cause concern among the community and we have officers on patrol to provide reassurance. Anyone with concerns or information should talk to them."
Anyone with information can contact police on 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 1098 05/12/14 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
