A COUPLE are preparing for a gruelling charity challenge.
Husband and wife Matthew and Helen Brown, from Durham, plan to tackle the Outlaw Triathlon in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The Nottingham event, scheduled for July, includes a 2.5-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run.
They are doing it in celebration of Mr Brown’s sister Jenefer, who beat breast cancer and is now expecting her first child.
Mr Brown, 29, said: “We’ve realised we need to do things when you can, as you never know what’s around the corner.
“A triathlon of this distance is something we’ve both wanted to do at some point and with a shift in perspective we’ve decided that now is the time to do it – and for a great cause.”
The couple hope to raise at least £1,000.
Cancer Research UK hopes to have 110 people taking part in the triathlon, together raising more than £42,000. Places are still available.
