POLICE seized cannabis plants worth an estimated £50,000 during a series of raids in north Durham today (Wednesday, December 3).
A man was arrested for alleged cannabis cultivation following the discovery during a search in Chapel Drive, Delves Lane, near Consett.
It was one of two premises raided by Durham Police as part of the continuing Operation Boomerang.
The plants were capable of being turned around every eight weeks. One other male is sought in connection with the seizure.
Inspector Keith Wardle said: “Anyone cultivating or contemplating cultivating cannabis can expect Consett police officers to be knocking on their door.
“We are receiving new information every day about people who are concerned in the supply of drugs and intend to follow up all information and disrupt this activity which is often linked to organised criminal groups.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Durham Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
