SPORTING success is on the cards for a group of Darlington students set to compete in a major championship.
The 12 students, from the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College (QE), will travel to Bath in March for the Association of Colleges Sport National Finals.
The sporty dozen will join finalists from eight regions across the UK to compete in a series of challenges staged to determine the British national champions.
The Darlington students will represent the North-East in swimming, badminton, squash and cross country.
In a bid to meet the costs of travelling to Bath, the group will spend the coming months staging fundraising activities such as cake sales, bag packs, dodgeball and Futsal competitions.
Paul Carroll, QE’s Sports Development Co-ordinator, said: “All of the students are a credit to the college, their families and themselves and their sporting ability is there for all to see.”
The students who have qualified so far are George Peden, Jonny Vasey, Laura Burdis, Wes Chow, Ben Potter, Sean Haycock, Joe Rawlinson, Matty Bell, Luke Hewitson, Molly Hackett, Iona O’Shea and Emily Robertshaw.
