A HOUSEBUILDER is bringing some festive cheer to children spending the countdown to Christmas in hospital.

Barratt Homes is donating £500-worth of Christmas presents, to be delivered by Santa Claus to sick youngsters in the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle before December 25.

The firm is inviting other people to add gifts to the delivery.

Donations should be left at the Barratt Homes development at The Limes, Coxhoe, County Durham, by Tuesday, December 9.

Fenton Hewitt, sales director at Barratt Homes North East, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to donate these toys to such a great cause and we hope the local community will support the initiative so we can help to make the Santa visit special for as many children as possible.

“Obviously, a hospital is not a nice place for any child to be, but if our donations can help to make a child’s time more bearable, particularly during the festive season, then it is so worth it.

“Barratt Homes is dedicated to helping the local community where possible and will continue to do so in 2015.”
