TWO public events are planned to give people the opportunity to find out more about proposals for a new emergency services ‘quad station’ in Barnard Castle.
The consultations will be held at Barnard Castle Fire Station, in Wilson Street.
The first will be on Wednesday, December 10, from 5pm to 9pm followed by a second on Saturday, December 13, from 10am until 4pm.
Representatives from the fire service, Durham Constabulary, North East Ambulance Service and Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team will attend to answer questions along with Michele Hodgson, the Chair of County Durham and Darlington Fire Authority.
During the event people will be invited to look at displays explaining the proposals and officers will be on hand to answer questions.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service is one of 37 projects across England and Wales to be given a share of a £75 million Fire Transformation Fund.
The £3.78m award, which was announced on Friday October 17, will be used by Durham to build a joint emergency services station to house fire, police and ambulance services as well as the mountain rescue team.
Andie Mackay, group manager for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and part of the team working on the project, said: “We realise that, like any building project, it will raise questions with those people living and working nearby and we are keen to explain the proposals and consider all comments and opinions.”
