A TIRELESS fund-raiser has received a lifetime achievement award by the national hospice movement.
Janet Morley, director of fund-raising at York’s St Leonard’s Hospice, was presented with the Norfolk Award for Lifetime Achievement in Fundraising by Hospice UK.
The award was presented by the charity’s chairman, Lord Howard of Lympne, at the Hospice UK Annual Conference in Leeds.
She joined the hospice in the late 1980s as a care assistant and was soon busily involved with fundraising for the charity, eventually being promoted to her current position.
She was nominated by the hospice’s chief executive, Martyn Callaghan, who said: “Janet has been the most energetic and imaginative fundraiser any hospice could wish to have, and during her years in her role she has helped the hospice to expand and develop.
“We could not have achieved our current successful position without her work, and she richly deserves this special award to show that she is valued not just in York but throughout the hospice movement.”
