THE girls of Carmel College proved dominant in the recent Darlington schools’ cross-country championships.
The championships, which saw all eight schools in the town compete, took place on the playing fields of Darlington School of Mathematics and Science.
Carmel was crowned overall winners in the girls’ competition, after a clean sweep of victories in all races.
In addition to their collective success, Carmel’s girls had a pair of individual winners in sisters Megan and Katie Noble, who took first place in the Year 7 and Year 10/11 competitions, respectively.
The college finished second overall in the boys’ competition, behind Hummersknott Academy, following a first place finish in the Year 7 race, a second place finish in the Year 8/9 race and a third place finish in the Year 10/11 race.
This was enough for Carmel to claim the Dave Bell trophy as overall Darlington cross-country champions, with Hummersknott runners up.
