A 44-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with manslaughter over an incident in a pub beer garden.
Father-of-three Paul Morrison, 51, from Burton Leonard, near Ripon, died at Harrogate District Hospital on last Thursday (November 20), almost three week after an alleged fracas at the Wetherspoons Royal Baths pub on Parliament Street, Harrogate.
The suspect, who is from Harrogate and has not been named, was re-arrested on Tuesday (November 25).
He has been bailed with conditions to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on December 16.
A 43-year-old man from the York area also required treatment for facial injuries following the incident, at 7.30pm on Saturday, November 1.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses who were inside the pub, and in particular, a woman Mr Morrison spoke to in the beer garden shortly before he was injured.
A police spokesman said: “There is no suggestion that these general conversations were in anyway linked to the alleged assaults that followed, but it is vitally important that these women contact the police as soon as possible to assist the investigation.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555-111.
