SPORTING heroes from across the region will descend on the Forum Theatre in Billingham for the BBC North East Sports Awards tomorrow (November 26).
The event, which will be hosted by BBC Look North presenter Jeff Brown and BBC Tees’ Alastair Brownlee, recognises contributions across all elements of sport as dedicated coaches, passionate volunteers and elite performers are rewarded for their outstanding achievements.
Categories include Sports Personality of the Year, Disabled Sports Personality of the Year, Team of the Year, Unsung Hero and more.
Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: “The Forum Theatre is a fantastic venue and I have no doubt that it will be a brilliant evening. I wish everybody involved the very best of luck.”
The guest list features representatives from a variety of sports and clubs including Sunderland AFC, Sunderland AFC Ladies, Newcastle Eagles, sprinter Richard Kilty and England Women’s rugby captain Katy McLean from Darlington Mowden Park RFC.
The BBC North East Sports Awards ceremony is organised by BBC North East, BBC Outreach, Sport England, Stockton Council and Riverside Leisure.
