AN internationally successful musical, hailed as one of the best of all time, has opened at Darlington Civic Theatre this week.
Blood Brothers has enjoyed sell out seasons in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Japan and is running in Darlington until Saturday (November 29) after opening to the public tonight (Monday, November 24)
The show, which has been touring since 1995, won four awards for best Musical in London, has garnered seven Tony nominations on Broadway and is one of only three musicals to have run on the West End for 24 years.
The play is the story of twin brothers separated at birth, only to be reunited by a twist of fate. It is a tale of class, friendship and betrayal, spanning two decades of Liverpool life.
Maureen Nolan stars as Mrs Johnstone, the mother of the eponymous ‘Blood Brothers’, a role she has played on the West End and on tour to critical acclaim.
