POLICE have named a man who died in Whitley Bay.
Darren Robson was aged 43 years and from the town.
Police were called to Whitley Road just before 6.20am, on Friday, November 21, following reports of a fire at a bin store.
The fire was extinguished and a body recovered from the bin store.
Enquiries are continuing to establish how Mr Robson came to be at this location.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fairlamb, from Northumbria Police's Major Crime Team, said: "We're still keen to speak to any witnesses who were in the area at the time and saw this man, or anyone with information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
"While there is currently no evidence to suggest he has been assaulted, we're keeping an open mind and enquiries continue."
