A DARLINGTON drinking establishment will soon be playing host to a new beer brewed on the premises
Number Twenty2, based on Coniscliffe Road for the past two decades, will soon be offering patrons its own creation within the upcoming weeks, a move which has seen a scaling back of the company’s food services to pursue the venture.
The beer, known as Brew Twenty2, will first go on sale in the bar on November 24, with further brews following every seven to ten days.
The brew will be a 3.8 per cent session bitter and brewed by Peter Wesley and pub owner Ralph Wilkinson.
Mr Wilkinson, who owns two further pubs, said: "We are now pleased to announce Village Brewer 'Brew Twenty2'. This Brew plant on the premises at Number Twenty2 Coniscliffe Road is set up to brew short brews specifically to be served on site in Darlington.
"The first brew is in cask now and will be ready to be served to our eager patrons the week of November 24.
"This brew will feature Pioneer and Fuggles Hops and further brews will follow every week to ten days.
"Special thanks go to the beer lovers at Number Twenty2 for their patience, waiting for beer to be brewed here in Darlington."
Although the food output is being scaled down, a selection of sandwiches will still be available at the Coniscliffe Road premises, which opened in March 1995.
