FIVE inspirational people are in the running for a day of luxury.
Modern Rugs, based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, will roll out the red carpet treatment for the winner of its competition, County Durham’s Unsung Hero.
Charities across County Durham nominated staff and volunteers who deserve special thanks for their hard work from which a shortlist of five people was selected.
They are Mandy Hammond, of Heel and Toe; Kay Wigham, of The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust; Ken Sadler, of Lifeline Community Action; Leigh Hall, of Derwentside Cree within the Single Homeless Action Initiative in Derwentside; and Naomi Griffin, of Farplace Animal Rescue.
Organisers want the public to decide who will walk away with the title and the prize of a luxury experience day worth £200 by voting for their favourite online.
Managing Director of Modern Rugs, Ben Dale, said; “We decided we that wanted give the unsung heroes in our community the recognition they deserve.
“We hope that the competition will help raise awareness for all the charities involved as well as giving the winner a taste of the red carpet lifestyle.
“It would be brilliant to see the community really get behind all the nominees.”
