The stadium is hosting the opening night of the band’s Sonic Highways European tour on Monday, May 25.
Special arrangements have been put in place from 5pm tonight so fans planning to queue overnight can do so inside the stadium’s stands so they are protected from the elements.
Anyone wishing to queue overnight must be aged over 18 years old, with club stewards on duty to check ID. No smoking or alcohol will be allowed inside the stadium.
Gary Hutchinson, commercial director with SAFC, said: “The confirmation of this concert has created a real buzz amongst music fans, so we’re really looking forward to the tickets going on sale.
“There has been unprecedented interest since the announcement, with enquires not just from the UK but from across Europe, particularly as the Stadium of Light is hosting the prestigious opening night of the tour.
“The band has an enduring popularity among rock music fans and given their popularity, it could be one of the most iconic gigs in the stadium’s history so I’d urge North-East music fans to secure their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”
Tickets, priced from £55, are available from 10am on Friday in person from the stadium box office, with a limit of four tickets per person.
Tickets can be bought online from www.gigsandtours.com or 0844 8110051 or www.ticketmaster.co.uk or 0844 826826.
Tickets for wheelchair users and fans with special needs are available on 0871 230 3453.
