A MUSIC festival, featuring some of the world’s biggest tribute acts, will return to the region for a second year.
Organisers have relaunched The Wannasee Festival, which takes place at Bishop Auckland Football Club’s Heritage Park stadium, in St Helen Auckland, to allow festival-goers to camp.
The event will run over three days for the first time, with anyone purchasing a ticket for Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 receiving free entry into Friday, May 22.
There will be 17 acts taking to the stage across the three days. The first evening will feature a Beatles tribute and two local bands. Saturday will be dedicated to pop music with a Michael Jackson act headlining and AC/DC will be the themed highlight on the Sunday.
Organiser John Brannan said: “We got about 1,700 people across the whole weekend this year, but I think we were affected by the horrendous rain.
“It was a fantastic event and we got so much positive feedback, we knew we had to put it on again.
“These acts are some of the best in the business.”
The line-up will include tribute acts for Take That and Robbie Williams, Thin Lizzy, Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, Blondie, Aerosmith and Bryan Adams.
Next year’s festival will have a provision in place to keep thousands of people dry in the event of bad weather and festival-goers will have the option of camping across the road from the stadium.
Mr Brannan added: “We have made it so it is affordable for everyone so the family can go together. We don’t think there is anything else like this out there.”
Early bird prices for adults cost £15 per day or £21 for a weekend ticket, with camping costing an extra £4.50 per night.
Young people, aged between 14 and 17-years-old, can enjoy the event for £7.50 a day or £11.25 for the full weekend, with camping costing an extra £3.75 per night.
While those under 14-years-old, receive free admission when accompanied by an adult but with camping costing £2.25 a night.
Camping is free on the Friday night for those with a valid camping ticket.
Parking will be free and a shuttle bus will run from Bishop Auckland tow centre on a regular basis.
