PEOPLE who need some help getting in the Christmas spirit this year are being urged to take part in a charity’s Santa fun run.

Santas of all ages and abilities can take part in the 5k fun run in aid of Herriot Hospice Homecare.

The run will be held at 11am on Sunday, November 30 in the grounds of Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Gardens, near Bedale.

Each entrant will be provided with a Santa outfit to wear during the run, which they can then keep. There will also be a soup station and refreshments will be available.

Among those who will be taking part in the run will be Herriot Hospice Homecare’s new chief executive Karen Wilkinson-Bell, who will be joined by her husband Nigel and daughter Honor.

She said: “If you are not yet in the festive spirit I can think of nothing better that putting on a Santa suit and running with dozens of other Father Christmases around beautiful Thorp Perrow.

“The run is suitable for all ages and everybody is guaranteed to have an enjoyable time.”

The entry fee for the event is £10 for adults and £5 for children under 13. The charity, which provides hospice care to people in their own homes, is encouraging runners to raise sponsorship money. Anyone who raises more than £20 will receive a gift.
